LEADER Terra et Mare is an organisation within the LEADER initiative; a mode of governance and an element within the European Union’s agricultural and rural development policy. The projects within LEADER Terra et Mare are, as per the definition of LEADER, partnership- and multi-sectorial based, and the decisions are taken by the Terra et Mare Local Action Group, consisting of representatives from public and private sectors within the area.
The LEADER Terra et Mare area consists of the following shires within the region Västra Götaland in the South-Western part of Sweden: Uddevalla, Orust, Tjörn, Stenungsund, Kungälv, Öckerö and Göteborgs Södra Skärgård.
What characterizes LEADER?
LEADER is an area-based governance approach and working model with a bottom-up perspective. It is a way of anyone in the participating community areas to get public match funding in order to implement projects that fit within the strategies set up for the LEADER area. The approach emphasizes local private-public partnerships and focuses on innovation, integration, and networking through decentralized financing and management.
